Basketball Court Construction in Avondale Estates, GA

Avondale Estates is made up of established homes on lots that vary from compact in town parcels to larger properties with mature trees and sloped backyards. Because the area sits on Georgia red clay, drainage is one of the first things our team assesses before any court design begins, since standing water and soil movement can affect a court's long term performance. We walk each property to check grade, tree roots, existing concrete or asphalt, and access for equipment before recommending a layout.

Many homes in and around Avondale Estates also fall under HOA guidelines, especially in neighborhoods closer to Decatur and Druid Hills, so we factor in setback rules and aesthetic expectations early in the process. Whether your site is flat, sloped, or partially shaded by older trees, our team adapts the court design to fit the space rather than forcing a standard layout that does not suit the property.

Most backyard half courts fit comfortably on a space of roughly 30 by 30 feet, while a full court typically requires closer to 50 by 84 feet, though many Avondale Estates homeowners opt for a scaled down version that still allows for real gameplay. Lot sizes in this area vary widely, so we measure the usable flat or gently sloped space on your property before recommending a layout.

For homes with tighter yards, a half court or a compact multi use court is often the practical choice, while larger properties nearer Brookhaven or Atlanta city limits sometimes have room for a fuller sized layout. We also plan for safe clearance around the court, access for players, and distance from fences, trees, and structures so the finished space feels open and functional.

Want to combine games on one slab? Our multi sport court layouts add pickleball lines to a basketball surface.

Acrylic color coating is the standard surfacing choice for outdoor basketball courts in Avondale Estates because it holds up well against Georgia sun and seasonal rain while giving the court a clean, finished look. We apply multiple coats over properly prepared asphalt or concrete, then add line painting for basketball, and for multi sport courts we can layer in pickleball lines as well so one surface serves more than one game.

Homeowners can choose from a range of court colors to complement their home or landscaping, and we help walk through options using our online 3D court builder so you can see how different color combinations and layouts look before construction begins. Restriping and resurfacing existing courts is also common for older driveways or courts that have faded over time.

Have an older slab that just needs new color and lines? Ask about basketball court resurfacing, or play with colors first in the 3D court builder.

Avondale Estates and neighboring communities throughout DeKalb County include HOAs, churches, and schools that often maintain shared basketball courts as a neighborhood amenity. We work with community associations and property managers to design or refresh courts that can handle regular group use while meeting any association design standards already in place.

For commercial and institutional clients, we coordinate surfacing, line painting, fencing, and lighting planning so the finished court supports organized play, practice, and casual pickup games alike. Multi sport courts that combine basketball and pickleball are increasingly popular for shared community spaces since they allow more residents to use the same footprint.

Our crews also build basketball courts in Decatur for neighbors nearby.

Every project starts with a site visit to evaluate grading, drainage, existing surfaces, and access, since conditions common to Avondale Estates properties, like red clay soil and mature landscaping, directly influence the design. From there we discuss court size, surface color, and any additional features such as fencing, lighting coordination, or hoop and goal installation.

Once a design is approved, our team manages construction from site preparation through final surfacing and line painting, keeping homeowners informed at each stage. For existing courts that need new life, we also handle resurfacing and restriping so the court looks and plays like new without a full rebuild.
